Men (and women) in uniform
Posted By: maxwell1295, 09-08-2008, 06:24 AM

Just going through some shots from last month. I haven't posted much lately, but I have some time today to go through the stuff I've shot in the last few weeks.

It's equivalent. Commander in the Navy.

Max, #8 is great. Was that part of colors, or something special?

Nothing special. They were just swapping out the colors. I think they put up a larger flag.

Did you notice the backwards cap in the first pic?

Very nice shots!

Silver Oak Leaves is rank ensignia for a

Navy "Commander" or an Army/Air Force/Marine "Lt Colonel",

NOT a "Major".

Don't ask me about the enlisted guys. I never could figure those out...

Wonderful series of "GI's" - the silver oak leaves designate a "light" colonel in the Army. Like MRRiley, I'm baffled by Navy ranks in Class A uniforms - you don't know who to salute.

You shoulda been there when the Air Force went to Navy-like sleeve stripes on Class A's for officers back in the early-mid 90s. No one knew what anyone was and to make matters worse they took name tags off of them.

As for the Navy enlisted, the only ranks I ever paid any attention to were Chief Petty Officers. They were pretty easy since they wore khaki's most of the time (junior enlisted are stuck in white popeye suits or blue denim pants and a blue shirt).

Nice shots Alan - as an 'Air Force' brat myslef it's been a while since I have seen the constant barrage of uniforms. Nice series brought back memories (albiet it was obviusly the Canadian Air force - Dad retired a Chief Warrent Office)

Always a pleasure to view your captures. I love the close-up of the flash being held.
