I've never heard of such a critter, Rob. You guys must have some tasty air down there! Good shot.

The air tasted like barbeque. The Lace Monitor is one of the bigger Goannas - they can be up to 2 metres long (almost 7 feet). This guy was probably a bit smaller, like about 1.8m.

PS Goanna is a mangling of "Iguana" but they are not related to Iguanas.
