Spider vs Grasshopper
Posted By: mhertel, 09-08-2008, 05:54 PM

Just saw the thread that the brit posted and didnt want to take over his thread with additional pics, so I started my own..

While walking from the back of the house to the front, I noticed this spider that must have just cought a grasshopper.. and is was almost twice the size of the spider.. So here's a few pics..

All taken with the Vivitar Series 1 105mm Macro

Nice ones. Isn't it funny how threads like this come in clusters. With yours, that's at least three spider threads submitted independently of each other.

Yup, seems like I have a few "pets" around the outside of the house.. They hold still and are just perfect for the 105mm. Just shot these pics yesterday

When I came home today, I decided to check on the spider and his dinner.. No grasshopper to be seen anywhere anymore.. Either he was very hungry and finished him off, or he lost it..

Sharp shots. As I said in response to Gary's thread, it's much more interesting to catch them doing something. Can understand the hijack urge, had to fight the desire to post on the "Anyone have a clue" thread cause had just taken some shots last week of the same spider. Somehow resisted the temptation.

That's fantastic. I'm now going to have to keep a good lookout for more Spider vs shots . Well done.
