Wild purple flower and the sun...
Posted By: GLThorne, 02-23-2007, 02:58 PM

Hi All! Hope everyone had a great week and have good plans for the weekend!!

While out looking for a newborn calf, I ran accorss a few wild flowers/vines. I thought the lighting turned out well on this one considering just as I started firing off a few shots, I heard the calf and had to go get her.

Very nice shot! How'd you get the background so dark? It added well to the effect.

This looks like a very nice close up shot of a periwinkle.

You carry your camera while out farming? Nice shot.

You are correct Clarence - it is perwinkle. Got it EVERYWHERE!!!

We've got 126 acres of pasture, woods, streams/creeks & ponds - you bet I carry my camera with me. I actually try to keep it in the truck with me as I do a lot of driving between customers here in South Carolina and I still haven't got me a good hawk or goose shot!

Alvin, I was knealing and took several shots with the sun to my back. I then turned and had the sun come in at a 8-o'clock position in reference to the flower and this was a shadow falling just behind it. I had the WB set to cloudy and Shutter priority mode. I thought it turned out pretty cool too and was wanting to see what others thought. Thanks!

Glad you all enjoyed. This was also taken with my 1 day old Tamron 70-300 Di LD lens in 300mm MACRO mode. So far a great lens!

Thanks Guys.

On a side note, I must say, I enjoy posting here much more than some of the other sites, of which I've just about quit. The members here actually go about this as a large bunch of friends spread around the world. Guess the love for shooting and Pentax could have something to do with it, huh?
