Where the Spirit Meets the Bone
Lens: Sigma 28-300mm Camera: K-50 Photo Location: Idaho
Posted By: Dewman, 05-17-2018, 04:18 PM

A couple of years ago, during a shoot of a wedding vow renewal ceremony, I took this shot of an attendee. I found his facial expression to be quite harsh but after giving it some thought, it reminded me of this saying.

"Have compassion for everyone you meet, even if they don't want it. What appears bad manners, an ill temper or cynicism is always a sign of things no ears have heard, no eyes have seen. You do not know what wars are going on down where the spirit meets the bone."

Jerry, this guy glared at me the entire time I was there. It was like he wanted to kick my butt for some reason or other. As usual, I did my best to be unseen and unheard while I went about my task but every time I looked his way, he would have that scowl on his face. At first I took it sorta' personal, but later, during the PP of the event, the quote crossed my mind.
