Prague at night
Posted By: cateto, 09-09-2008, 04:44 AM

Well, I am quite proud of this picture, so I thought it was a good one to post for the first time here:

Pentax K10D with standard 18/55 set to ISO 100, overexposed +1, WB set to artificial lighting, held on top of a handrail. Shot on JPEG, the picture is shown straight from the camera, no tweakings.

It's called the Castle of Prague, and it's one of the main places in Prague. It is in fact a kind of cathedral, really impressive.

Very nice shot - seems a little tilted to me - I suffer from "have-to-us rotate-us counter-clockwise-us" big time. Good composition.

Outside of the tilt issue (mentioned already) it is a beautiful picture of a beautiful city. Thanks for sharing.

I think you paid hose pigeons to stand still for you! But seriously, nicely done. You can fix the tilt later. And you may want to try a PP filter to make corrections in the future. All lighting gives a colour cast , sometimes obivious and stark, other times subtle. I never worry about it unless it is for realistic-documentary purposes.

Just to put things right. You're right on the name (though I'm not 100% about translation to English). To the "one of the main places" part: it used to be castle of Czech kings, these days it houses President's office. And for the cathedral. The two spires are part of cathedral, possibly the nicest in Czech republic, but everything around is a genuine castle, with gardens, walls etc...
anyway, nice shot, well done...
