Cactus and Dew
Posted By: GeoJerry, 05-25-2018, 01:09 AM

A very unusual weather pattern came through today, misty and damp. More like the Oregon coast than southern California in late May. But the heavy dew on this cactus caught my eye and I had to shoot it.

Jerry, you have a great eye for the finer things in nature. Although all are top notch, #1 appeals to me the most.... I think. Rather hard to choose.

Very clever, my friend. Even though we have some cacti around here, I never think of wet and cactus in the same mental breath. Beautiful photos all, but I'm especially drawn to the fractal-like look of the third one.

All are great looking images! Cactus are great as long as you don't lay on one! (Or more!)

Hi, my first comment. Look at the third shot rotated 180. Utterly new image which I'd prefer. The last two have too much details. Specially the fourth one which leaves me without the answer for "what the ... is the glowing red nucleus"? ;-) As I like cacti photos very much, the most interesting are those with unique features or showing new points of views. You did fine job. Thanks!

Thanks Jer... I only noticed this because it was sitting on a table in the patio in full view from the house.

Thanks veraser, I'm pleased to be the subject of your first post! Nice idea on rotating the 3rd image, looks good!

The orange/red area is just the top of the small cactus, the whole thing is only about 4 inches high.
