Flying Cars!
Lens: DA*300 Camera: K3 Photo Location: Silverstone Circuit, Northamptonshire UK
Posted By: crossed-up, 05-29-2018, 01:02 PM

Last Saturday I spent a very long day at Silverstone (4.30am start!) for the Speedmachine Festival helping out to promoting club level motorsport giving passenger rides on a handling course. But the main event was a round of the World Rallycross Championship, so I took the K3 and DA*300 along in case there was time for a bit of photography. As it turned out I spent the whole day driving (having too much fun) but managed to catch some of the last race from our location down at Stowe corner and got a few shots before the end. I couldn't believe the height these guys were getting, it was almost like watching a real life cartoon!

Great pictures...you do know the secret of freezing speed and time.

I have to ask...in that last frame....what vehicle (scooter) is the photographer riding...looks electric and fold down?

Excellent, now where do I get one of those scooters with times on it big enough to handle rugged terrain.

Thanks all for the positive comments.

Sorry, I can't help with the scooter questions, but it did look like a nifty bit of kit!

Amazing images, I suspect that the noise level was fairly impressive also!

Not only are the tires unsuitable for forest walks, but the weight of the camera and lens that the driver is carrying is overloading them! The angle of the steering column and seat shock absorber really need to be tilted back to provide an anti-dive geometry for braking; as it is, if the driver needs to apply the brakes, s/he will be going end over teakettle.
