Nature Snapping turtle at the refuge today.

Snapping turtle at the refuge today. · **1 Like**

Took a couple photos of this snapper this morning.
They look so prehistoric.

What no extreme close up? Wow that thing is a tank. The thumbnail makes it look like a shed.

Excellent portrait of the Snapping Turtle. Approach with care

and you were wise taking the turtle's picture with a telephoto lens. I like both photos, you caught great expressions on the Snapper's face. In the northern part of it's range, the king/queen of the lake. Very sharp photos.

I agree with the poster that the turtle has a regal look...with it's face turned upward in a dismissive manner.
