Ahhh ... found this ... working out how these forums work. Cosina make some great lenses under the Voigtlander and Zeiss brands and I'll shoot anything that will go on the front of my K-1 (which I love) ... making the most of this one at f1.4. Not my dog but he has character. Thank you for the very kind comments

For years, people have been shooting through lenses like this wide open so it's an easy way to get pics with a classic look with huge aperture and useful bokeh. For some shoots, an f1.4 lense, close in, set to wide open is a pretty reliable formula. Finding any lenses like this is becoming a pain. I got this one about 8 years ago when everyone thought such gear as 50mm primes had no future and 6.3 megapixel DSLRs and kit lenses were the bees knees ..... I kept my primes because I knew they took nice pics and had some tricks up their sleeves. Kit zooms don't do the DOF tricks a 1.4 delivers

Thanks Adam .... just natural light and an f1.4 50mm wide open. Any dog will look useful eventually once they get bored of wondering what the camera is. Flashes freak animals out so it has to be natural light.

Yes Matt. I just got lucky with the pose!

DW58 ... he's very much his own dog ... doesn't normally look this poised ... just a nano second of attitude captured! Cheers!

Eaglem, no treats from me ... He pretty much ignored me .... get any closer and he wants to lick you! :-)
