Tough place to stay alive

Good picture.

This is the sort of picture that would be hobbled by using a narrow DOF - context, all that nothing for miles, is what makes it 'special'.

You are quite right, shallow DOF which is so much loved by a lot of people these days is, in my opinion, much overrated and applied inappropriately in many cases. Maybe it is an antidote to all the Mobile Phone pics people take where shallow DOF is next to impossible to achieve.

Yes, I have taken many disappointing pics where all one could see was miles and miles of miles and miles. Here at least is something to look at and the Omani desert is quite variable.

I am not sure about this but I think plats survive on dew which develops as a result of hot days and cold nights.
