I find it's really hard to take photos of fireflies, so magical in person, yet it can look like you have a faulty sensor in photo!

Ha very true! when you know what it is, it looks cool though! I tried a couple summers ago and thought the same thing.

Good photo the second time on Flickr. was not the first photo in flicker. cheers

Hmm. I have never tried to capture a firefly image. Now that you mention it, it would be a challenge. thanks for sharing your shot.

Thanks everyone! I'm hoping to go out and try again tonight. This was at f5.6 or f8 with an old 28mm lens. I'm going to try a 50mm at f2.8. I figure letting more light in at the same ISO, I'll have a shorter exposure, but each burst of light will be brighter an register better against the dark. (Or at least, that's what my hypothesis is.)

Back again with more! It is impossible to get good focus at night in a super dark field. :-P
