My DA* 50-135 is not considered a Macro lens but does an amazing job when cropped to be a close up.

I love this lens more every time I use it. Wide open, for astro, (images to come if Stacker works well.) Even small wildlife and birds with no fear.

Thanks for that comment, you are one of the biggest contributors of cool macro shots here. I wonder if anyone makes a close up adapter lens large enough for the 50-135?

Pentax saves it's macro designation for 1:1 lenses, Other companies use i fro as low a 1:2. Many Penettax lenses would be called macros if released by Sigma.

That is interesting as before editing for forum resolutions, these images are both still about 75% of uncropped. Both are over 4500 x 3000 px in dimension. That tells me that KP and this lens equals more flexibility when using it as a walk around.

Shows you don't need a lens fully dedicated for the task, thanks for sharing, really nice

Hey bert, did you figure out the macro on the 70-300. Its really handy for insects (butterflies and bees)because you shoot from 7 feet away and there's less chance you spook them.

Haven't had too much to do so, been enjoying the A 400, in fact I took a few butterfly/dragonfly photos with it recently, though not worth posting
I'll go out this afternoon with the 70-300 and see what I can do

You have to be between 200 and 300mm and there's macro switch on the side of the lens.

Yep, saw that and messed around inside, but haven't gone outside with it, I'll report back this afternoon
