Smartphone RAW in anger - flowers
Camera: Xiaomi smartphone
Posted By: LensBeginner, 06-15-2018, 07:00 AM

Because I left my house with a depleted battery in my camera, I had to revert to my smartphone - but I took advantage of the RAW feature. Here are some results:

Only notable downside I found - which I think it's going to be difficult to fix - is some streaks of white-ish dots, which look just like on-sensor PDAF pixels.

Yeah... cut a bit the bottom petal, but I had the screen in direct sunlight, and the app kept crashing when saving the Raw...
Thanks for stopping by!

The only time recently I used my smart phone was when my wife and I went to a musical presentation at the college where she works and they unexpectedly invited everyone to take pictures - they were hoping for good social media coverage. I would have taken my Q-7 with me if I had known this was going to happen, but because I hadn't, my phone was the only "camera" with me.

Nice work, BTW.

It's become the "default" camera for almost everyone, I think...

Bonus picture, an "artistic" rendering of a dandelion. The single sunray was real, other tweaks are PP.

Many thanks to you as well
As for the fourth pic, the untouched RAW was more similar to the final outcome than an initial "truer to life", so I got my inspiration from that

You did well . I've had to fall back on my phone countless times in similar situations. At least you had the RAW option, which my old iPhone 5 lacks (AFAIK).

Thanks!
It's a bit of a hack on my phone as well... and the app crashes so many times I actually have to go and check if the file was actually written (I sometimes get 1 KB files with no meaningful data inside).
I posted a test here.
