Legacy of Flight Air Show - 16 June 2018
Weather was strange - rain until the show started. Mixed clouds all day. The gallery faced in to the sun. The planes took off from the runway behind the parked aircraft so getting landing and takeoff was tough. After the show, we were allowed on the field to get close to the aircraft.

My favorite plane at the show - The Grumman S-2 Sub Tracker.
Watching this plane lumber into the sky made me wonder how it ever managed to take off from an aircraft carrier.

Did you try a slightly slower shutter speed? I'd be happier if there were more apparent motion to the propellers.

No, I know other folks like the prop blur but I'm not crazy about it. To each their own....

Those planes probably used some type of catapult assist when launching from a carrier. Nice shots!

That is what the Steam Catapult was for! That basic shape and body stayed in service with Turboprop engines for many years after this model.

Thanks, should have thought about the catapult. I've seen enough movies where they mention it.
