Dinner Thief
Lens: D FA 150-450 Camera: K-3 Photo Location: central New York

We noticed a little House Wren had made a nest in one of our outdoor light fixtures. I was sitting there with my 150-450mm looking for eagles (They flew over later) and was only about 10 ft from the Wren's nest. We noticed that the mother always came back very quickly with a new bug each trip, and when I loaded the photos I noticed that she often had spider webs on her beak. I'm pretty sure she was robbing the spider webs that are around.

Great detail. You caught her "red-beaked" - but why do all the work, when you can get spiders do it?

Thank you. It was fun watching her go back and forth and feed her babies. They looked pretty big. I think they'll be gone soon.

Amazing close up. That is a really smart move for the wren.
