Take my picture!
Lens: Pentax 06 Camera: Pentax Q7 Photo Location: Mosquito Creek, Queensland Australia ISO: 100 Shutter Speed: 1/500s Aperture: F4

Swamp Wallaby (Wallabia bicolor) - the only wallaby with its own genus. This little lady almost cannoned into me this morning as she was heading down to the dam. She sat up as if to say "Take my picture" ... "And my profile too!". I was happy to oblige.

Thanks for sharing, it does look like she's posing in the first photo.

I just like the sound of their name, say it out loud, "Swamp Wallaby!" It just sounds cool.

I remember visiting Australia and having wallaby's pose like this. Nice shot!

Do they pose often?
The behavior you describe sound a lot like how deer behave around here.

Also known colloquially as "Black Jack" or "Stinker". Perhaps not quite so cool!

It is a typical pose when a wallaby or kangaroo is curious rather than alarmed. I think the roughly human upright stance encourages us to make a comparison with people.
