Broken Record, part II : return of the record
Posted By: Gooshin, 09-12-2008, 08:05 AM

since my original photo of the pre-war record player got alot of you interested, i decided to go and process all of the images from that location again, change the angles a bit and do some cropping, let me know what you guys think.

first, the original photo slightly rotated to even out the floor horizon, and cropped to get rid of that pillow thing in the corner,

these two shots were taken from different angles.

and some other pictures from the house,

F*@# the record, I want more pictures of your cousin.

Actually , I really like these and the shots from the other thread. Couldn't be shot in anything but B&W. It's interesting to see where people come from and what kind of
places they live in. I know you said this was an older building, do you have shots of more up to date houses/apartments in Russia for comparison?

up to date is a relative term...

post-war soviet engineers have developed about 10ish basic housing structures, ranging from 12 to 24 stories high.

they were built using pre-cast concrete slabs and sort of put together, like LEGO, unlike north america, where each new condo building is (usualy) built according to a unique set of archetectural plans.

and they just build them, and they STILL build them, hundres of thousands.

the result is that once you've been to one building you pretty much have been to all of them, and the only variation is 1/2/3 bedrooms and which side of the building you live on.

this has slowly started to change, with moscow leading the country in independant "new age" condo construction, but the cost of these units is extreamly prohibitve to the average consumer.
