K30 repaired - extended warranty
Lens: Sigma 17-70 f2.8-4.5 macro Camera: K30 Photo Location: Melbourne
Posted By: Cee Cee, 06-18-2018, 09:30 PM

so my K30 succombed to the dreaded aperture failure problem, I was reviewing my options on how to repair when I had a vague recollection that the sales guy at "TEDS Cameras" here in Melbourne had sold me an extended warranty, I remembered because at the time I thought "that was probably a waste of money!" as I exited the store. Any how, when I located the paper work, sure enough I'd signed up for a 5 Year extended warranty - "no ... it wouldn't still be covered would it ? .... " Checking the dates, yep still a couple of months to go. So I promptly returned it to "TEDS" and they sent It of to be fixed, they sent it to Kennedy's (local importer) and they replaced the solenoid with the correct replacement part, and all is well. I took a few shots in one of Melbourne's historic arcades to test it out.

Glad your camera is back in action - and I enjoyed the photos, as well. Looks like a fun and active place.

thanks Jer, the best thing was that there are 3 competing Chocolatiers in the arcade, all competing for your attention with plenty of sample trays floating around

Looking at those pics proves it was worth repairing and that an extension warranty is sometimes worth the cost.

thanks for your comments EM, being a tech I figure If some electronic thingy I buy breaks down outside the normal warranty I'll just fix it myself anyway so I don't bother with extended warranties, but I remember thinking at the time "what the heck do I know about the inner workings of a digital camera, what if it breaks and I can't fix it? ". $70 or so for 5 years peace of mind was a good investment as it turns out . Even if I was a little sceptical as I left the shop.

Good contrast to all the busyness upstairs.
