Nice shots. I particularly like the first one. Istanbul is a great city. We were there in 2012 and really enjoyed ourselves.

I think "LensBeginner" is a misnomer, I don't think you are a beginner at all, nice and interesting series.

Thanks all
@PenPusher, when I chose that nickname I was truly a beginner

@PJ1 light conditions were beyond awful, as demonstrated below:

This picture was taken handheld, at ISO1600, f/2.8 and 1/6s, and I had to push a further +1 EV in PP.

This, by comparison, is what my otherwise decent 16 MP smartphone could do...

Very nice series, and your post directly above shows the quality of a good camera.

Hahaha so true!
Well... actually I wasn't yet using super-resolution techniques at the time (this was last year), so I wonder how much would have changed, getting back those 4 stops of noise...

@bertwert @sergeremy many thanks

I like the first one - so many different subtle textures.

Thank you
The Basilica Cistern is definitely a tourist attraction, in the bad sense... very crowded... but it's also a magical place if one manages to tune out... the columns are also different from each other... there's one which is always the most crowded because it's covered in a decoration pattern that resembles a multitude of eyes.
You have to try hard and take your pictures with the minimal amount of people possible, so you don't remember it as crowded as it was
