Actually, I prefer peaches myself. (Note: I didn't take the picture of hanging pears, I found it on the Internet. Out here in the Great Northern Plains, pear trees don't thrive.)

That would be like trying to salvage a rusty old wreck for the steel. Feasible, but probably not worth the effort.
