More Dragonflies, at least Four
Lens: Pentax DA 55-300 ED PLM WR Camera: KP Photo Location: Liberty, Maine ISO: 500 Shutter Speed: 1/350s Aperture: F9
Posted By: SSGGeezer, 06-27-2018, 07:36 PM

Had at least 4 different dragonflies out by the mailbox. I was weedwhacking and took a break with my camera to get a few nice shots of these. Two Very Red and two that were bright and duller yellow.
The second Red Dragonfly had a case of water mites that you can see on her body just in front of the wings while she is carrying eggs on her underside to the rear.

The third and fourth image are the same except for crop. Which do you prefer?

I also prefer the third.

Red, yellow, and green. I am green with envy because I have trouble finding any of them.

Maybe you live in a dragonfly free area?

One day you'll find them...

Thanks Em,
I wish we could post them with a few more pixels since they don't look nearly as sharp downscaled for forums. And uploading to my 500px page is soo slow and unreliable. I am looking for a new spot to land with my higher resolution images.

There's a free program that may help with this called FastStone Photo Resizer and it does it's work in a loss less manner so you don't use quality. I happen to use this program.

Prefer 3 over 4, due to the grass working far better in the composition. Nice series of very skittish insects. Thanks.

Man you nail these guys every time! I think I've only taken one usable shot of these critters.
