One of my favorite shots from Jasper.
Woke up around 2:30 AM to take a hike in bear country to take this one.
Love it!

I know this photo was posted more than a year ago, but I really like it. It really highlights the beauty of the stars and the Milky Way.

If I ever make my way up that direction I will let you know, maybe we could meet up. I'd love to get some Milky Way up i that area. Kamloops isn't that far, I think 4hrs from Jasper.

Depends on the season and your geography. Milky Way core in the northern Hemisphere is now rising and setting with the sun, so it won't be visible at night anymore. Maybe at 7:30pm in October. But by November, it will have completely set by dark, and won't rise again until mid February at around 4:45AM, 15 mins before astronomical twilight where the sun will wash it out.
But at 2am right now, Orion is in all it's glory.
