few shots with the new Sigma 70-200 2.8
Posted By: Jimbo, 09-13-2008, 05:20 PM

I have a few ready to show. So far happy with results. For BEST results would recomend tri-pod on macro shots with anything over about 100mm. Feels great in the hands and focus is fast and quiet. cheers and will post some more tomorrow. JIMBO

Very nice Jimbo! If it wasn't such a cumbersome lens, I'd probably be ordering one this week. I do 100% of my shooting hand held (I don't even own a tripod). I need to have something I can handle without a tripod. I guess I'm going to have to "settle" for the DA*50-135 instead.

Too bad you may be stuck with a great lens like the DA 50-135... If you shot a lot in one day, you will need a monopod or tripod with the Sigam 70-200... After a hour it was hard to hold and keep a good focus. Lost a few shots just because I wouldn't walk back to the car! will be carrying it with me now. [tripod] I also need to pick up a couple of bean bags too. Thanks you for commenting on the shots. what I really like about this lens is the DOF. 50% of the time I shoot flowers, 35% landscape and the rest "what ever fits the mood" JIMBO

You are right about the weight. I have tried it with monopod and it is excellent.

I was out today and did some general stuff. I have posted a few in this thread,

https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/pentax-slr-lens-discussion/36923-lens-converter-hsm-sdm.html

I am getting comfortable with it. I do like the fast focusing, smooth range and good images seen to date. It is a somewhat sharper at 70mm F2.8 than the 200mm setting. It could also be movement therefore I will have to test it on a tripod to have solid results for comparison.

This one was taken at F2.8 - 1/15 sec at 70mm using 1600 iso no flash, hand held.

nOT BAD FOR 1600 iso.. I had the same problem with focusing at 200mm... should have got the tripod out! At that length, just a small movement will cause a blur. I still need to confirm the Macro side though I think based on some 100% crops, should be ok. Thanks and good luck with yours... PS: Seen the other pictures you posted on another thread. JIMBO
