A Bottle Brush Flower I Believe.
Lens: Pentax-A 50mm 1.7 Lens. Camera: Pentax k-50 Photo Location: Sherwood Forest. ISO: 100 Shutter Speed: 1/125s Aperture: F7.1

A fine bright exposure. Not sure what plant, so I'll go with your reading

I believe you are correct that it is not a bottle brush plant. A real bottle brush plant will have spikes growing out of the leaves.

I also am rediscovering the joy of manual focus, with my A50/1.7 and M100/2.8

I certainly hear you on that. The downside is that I am going to need to jot down the lens setting, since it does not appear in the EXIF data. Again, I do feel that my photos are much better looking by going to manual focus. I also have that Pentax 100mm Macro lens and it is razor sharp and everything else in the photos look better.
