Dragonflies {Finally}!
Lens: 55-300mm WR Camera: K-30
Posted By: reh321, 07-04-2018, 01:04 PM

Facing another day over 90F, my wife and I went to a county park early in the day - she was looking for birds, but I finally found a couple of dragonflies! {but I'm not sure why they absolutely refused to face the camera} This is the type of case that would justify a KP I was shooting in TAv mode so I could get sufficient DOF but still 'stop' any motion, but I almost freaked out when I saw I was pushing my K-30 to ISO=3200!

My favourite insects....with spiders right up there...nice shots. I never really used TAv too much before but a friend, a butterfly enthusiast, told my about it's benefits. I use it quite a bit now. As you say, locks in the DoF and minimizes motion blur.

That kind of logic is why I've started thinking in terms of a KP - this was really pushing my K-30, but a KP should be ready-to-go at much higher ISO values

Since we're not in the "other" thread I can say this; yes, that is why the upgrade to a K3ii from a K-7 was wanted...a better sensor
