While cutting back an out of control Spirea two weeks ago we discovered this miniature rose bush. It's now in bloom.

Very pretty.

At least you didn't cut back the rose bush also. Some years ago my Dad gave my Mom a rose bush and built a lovely trellis for it. He had other concerns around the house, and several years later he noticed the rose bush was now totally out-of-control, so he cut it back. Unfortunately, he had forgotten that this was a rose vine grafted onto a root from something else, and he cut back below the graft point, thereby ruining the whole thing!

What a shame. When we moved to our new place a couple of years ago we inherited two very large neglected rose bushes that had reverted back to root stock. We've pruned them back to a reasonable size but the flowers are nothing to write home about.

Beautiful detail, sharpness and composition, Dave! You've got a good eye. I'm glad it was spared from the pruning.
