Nice image Janse! I suspect that until enough matter builds up that it lifts the tiles, it has no effect on the roof's ability to shed rain. Best thing about tile roofs, they don't get damaged by algae and they don't catch fire when a forest fire drops hot embers on them.

Nicely spotted, Janse. I love the way the ridge and gutter line dodge around to follow the wall underneath. There’s a lot worse decay than that in Portugal, as I noticed there during a visit last year. It’s still a beautiful, friendly country, slowly pulling itself up by the bootstraps after its economic woes of a few years ago.
