The vane on the windmill states "Self Oiling Brantford". Unfortunately, the blades are long gone. As are the original inhabitants of this old homestead.

Nice pix, out there on the open prairie. Is that body of water nearby a dugout ?

Nope. I'd haveta say it's a slough. It even has pelicans.

I dunno, Les--I didn't really check. But seeing the pelicans, one would suspect there were. You know, I really don't know the difference between a slough and a smallish lake--maybe it's the presence of fish??? The slough/lake was a pretty good size--the road cuts through it.
