Bright eyes....!
Lens: 28-80 zoom with extensions Camera: Pentax K3 Photo Location: Adelaide SA ISO: 800 Shutter Speed: 1/125s Aperture: F22

I'd been weeding the garden and disturbed this Wolf spider. He'd been rather cheeky sitting watching me work, so I relocated him to a safe container until I was finished then put him back close to where I found him.

The white circles are the reflection of the ring light I was using, but it adds to the image I think

I always wonder how you guys keep the spider still to take these amazing shots.

In this case he was quite prepared not to move. I think it's their camouflage technique, humans are attracted to movement more than anything, so if you stand still there is a better chance that no-one will see you. Teach your car keys to run backwards and forwards and you'll never lose them!

Spiders in my experience are the same, once he knew I was there he stood very still. When I disturbed him originaly he moved a small distance and stood stock still for more than 10 minutes while I worked around him. In the end I actually caught him in a small pot and put him up on the wall until I finished the weeding. Once I'd taken his picture and left he obviously took the chance and legged it, when I came back five minutes later he was gone.
