Enjoying the DA L 55-300
Camera: K-5
Posted By: Skodadriver, 07-25-2018, 01:45 AM

I cannot call myself a photographer and have little talent (at everything really) but I do appreciate this lens and it's value for money. My wife likes some of the images I take and believe me sometimes it's like blood out of a stone getting her to like something.
Sat in the back garden this morning, some images (cropped) that make me like this lens.
Next stop maybe fork out for a K-3 iii and the PLM 55-300mm if I can get them without her indoors realising. I wish!

You most certainly can call yourself a photographer. We're all at different points along the journey. IMHO, the most important thing for us amateurs is to enjoy what we're doing. After that, it's a series of choices as to how much and what we want to learn, and the time we can (or want) to dedicate to that. But if you're taking photos and enjoying that, you're a photographer. And if your wife likes (some of) them, that's even better!

I particularly like the shot of the female blackbird... the feather detail is excellent. The screw-drive 55-300 in its various incarnations is a brilliant little lens for the money

I always call myself an amateur working on talent This is a great place to be and I feel it has helped me improve. Love the shot of the bird best but they are all great. I use my DA 55x300 too and use it a lot.

The bird photo, especially, is very nice. I agree that the quieter PLM lens would make your work easier.
