On the way to the Treasure
Lens: pentax 18-55 mm Camera: K-r Photo Location: Petra Jordan ISO: 100 Shutter Speed: 1/45s Aperture: F3.5

On a trip to israel and jordan in june 2014, I visited Petra, an extraordinary place that made me forget that cameras have settings,
luckily I set RAW+ but a lot of irreparable pictures, (a good excuse for a repeat)

I've read about Petra - but never seen it. Those people certainly are dwarfed by that opening .... I'm glad to included them to provide scale.

It's spectacular I will spend some time trying to fix some more to post later. You walk about a mile and a half on this narrow and deep corridors and at the end you get to the king's valley, it's a pleasant surprise when you get there.

Looks like an old river course has eaten away the rocks over a very long time and yet life, in the shape of the tree, seems to cling on in what is now a very dry place.

I found walking through the Siq to be almost as awe inspiring as the rest of the Petra site.

The lighting certainly presents a challenge with the huge dynamic range.

Yes, and being in the middle of the desert, is a strange feeling, they build small open channels and dams on the sides to collect water.

it is a very rewarding trip.

Yes, and as rookie at that time didn't helped. I have a lot of pictures to proof it.

What a stunning slot canyon, and I agree the people really put a good scale to its depth.

I haven't been to Petra, but my wife has once. She replied it was hot, but beautiful. She wants to go back.
