Abstract of the Kamloopa Powwow last year
Lens: 18-55mm Camera: K3II Photo Location: Kamloops ISO: 100

Here is an interesting abstract I took at the Kamloopa Powwow in 2017. I wanted to capture the grand entry like I've not seen anyone do before. While not for everyone, I do like this image.

I also think it is wonderful; are you open to sharing the technique and process you used to generate this image?

I like what you've done! Really captures the energy of the event.

For sure! I like to share knowledge

I set my tripod up on the stage (I was working the event doing the audio) and set my camera to take a sequence of 1s photo's. I let it do that for between 30 and 50 frames and once I got back home I edited them all in LR, exported them and stacked them with no alignment in Affinity Photo. Once stacked, I set the blend mode to maximum and brought in some of the 1s shots that showed a few of the faces nicely. Lined up the colours as best I could and did some selective erasing with a very soft edge and gradual opacities. I then cropped it down to exclude a bit of the stationary crowd that I had got in the frame as well.
It was a fun edit. My idea was to portray the movement as I had never seen as well as get a feeling like "the spirit of our ancestors dance around us".

Great concept and you did an excellent job of artistically putting everything together into one image. Thanks for sharing!
