Posted By: mugund, 09-16-2008, 04:49 PM

We flew to Vegas, then drove to North Rim but it wasvery cloudy, then drove to South rim, where it was very clear. Then we drove back to Vegas:

Wow, those are great! The Grand Canyon is on my bucket list. I really like #2 and #6, they are stunning.

(Poor kid - he's so young to have a monkey on his back. )

Thanks for sharing.

Beautiful shots. I too really like #2 and 6... Do you have a ND8 filter? Would have helped with the first shot. Thank you for sharing... JIMBO

G'day mugund,
Like the second shot in particlar (actually like 'em all) and the family shot in the Venetian Plaza.
How to improve on the Grand Canyon shots? Time, take more time and experiment with filters, angles, lenses, composition and so forth. Really hard to do on a day trip. I want to get back there one day with time on my side and really have a go at photographing this magnificent place, rather than just 'snapping' it....but it will take me several days, and a lot of luck with the weather.

Some fliters (circ polariser) may help with the haze which is always a problem.

Well done and thanks for sharing.

Hi everybody,
Thanks a lot for the encouragement
I have got a ND filter and a polarizer, probably need to start using those for these outdoor situations...

Great shots - especially the one of the North Rim wrapped in clouds (not a view you see very often)...
