Otis visits the Maine State Capital ...
Lens: Sigma 18-250 Camera: K-5IIS Photo Location: Augusta, Maine

I stopped by the State Capital this morning, and you won't believe it, but I found Otis was also visiting...he was more interested in checking out all the pine trees, but I did notice he took time out to snack on a peanut butter cracker....

Good photos - I've been wondering what he has been doing lately.

I like that park for lunch and a walk! Need an excuse to head back to Augusta. Nice capture. I am Surprised Otis moved up North, it must have been too hot for him down South.

What is the opposite of "snow birding"? Instead of visiting south to avoid snow, visiting north to avoid heat??

Well Maine is known as "vacationland" ..... and Texas has been exceedingly hot this summer (105-110F), even Otis needs a little break from that kind of heat. I suspect he'll head on home before it gets too cold up this way

A lot of folks do that so they can skip shoveling 2.5 feet of snow during and after a Nor'Easter!

Actually, I don't. I travel regularly year round between the 2 locales.....

In fact, I tend to spend the winters up North as traveling is a bit more difficult Jan-Feb-March...
