because the voices in my head won't talk to you. I saw this egret staring and lunging around. When I got closer I could see that it was snatching dragonflies in midair.

Nice shot! Too bad about the dragonflies though, I am a fan of anything that gobbles mosquitos and mosquito larvae.

You see them looking down at the water so often it's almost a surprise seeing one looking up. Same determined, focused look on the face though. Nice shot.

Dragonflies are so small, they hardly seem worth the effort. Bird-brains may not be programmed to make that kind of tradeoff; when we lived in Kansas, we had lots of crickets in our house, which provided entertainment for our cats, but I have to believe they used more energy than they gained from consuming one.
