Dragonflies are so small, they hardly seem worth the effort. Bird-brains may not be programmed to make that kind of tradeoff; when we lived in Kansas, we had lots of crickets in our house, which provided entertainment for our cats, but I have to believe they used more energy than they gained from consuming one.
