Antelope Canyon
Posted By: Sadi, 08-04-2018, 08:27 PM

My husband (Babywriter) and I went to Arizona this spring. We went on a photographer's tour of Antelope Canyon. I'm a novice, just starting to shoot with a K-5 he got me about a year ago. I spent a month before the trip trying to pick the right lens from his collection, but none of them worked well for me, so he bought me a Tamron 17-50 lens. This is by far the best picture I've ever taken.

Thank you! The tour guides did a fantastic job of setting us up for photos. This shot was perfect right out of the camera, no editing needed. I'm very grateful to my husband, who told me what settings to use in the low light.

"Just right!" You can look at the finished image and say it would be hard to go wrong. But it isn't that easy. Well done!

Good for you, but the most important bit was... did you enjoy yourself going there and taking this?

I did, very much. I was really nervous about doing this. I never used a remote trigger or a tripod, and I knew my skill level was not up to this. My husband helped me with settings, and I stood where the tour guide said to stand, and I just shot away. This was one of my first pictures there, and once I saw how nice it was, my nervousness went away and I had a great time! I really wasn't expecting much from my pictures, I was really just shooting so I could be on the tour with my husband. He hasn't processed his pictures yet, and he took WAY more than I did! I know his will be fantastic! This trip was one I'd been wanting to take for over 30 years and it was every bit as wonderful as expected.

Thanks, hon. I never would have done it without you! Literally. You helped me get my camera ready, showed me how to use the settings, and how to use a remote trigger. I never would have gone on a tour like this without you. The only reason I went was so you could do it, and I couldn't go with you without a camera and tripod of my own. I did not expect to get anything decent myself. However, after seeing this shot in the viewer on my camera, I realized it was going to be an amazing experience for both of us! The best part of the day though was seeing you have so much fun. I only took one or two pictures at each staging area. Then I was watching you have the time of your life!
