Farmstead Northern Lights
Lens: 14mm Camera: K3II Photo Location: Southbank B.C. ISO: 2500 Shutter Speed: Above 6s Aperture: F4.5

I had been down at the beach of my parents farm waiting for the weak northern lights to make a burst, but I had waited a while and I could also hear a rogue bull from a farm up the road in our yard. Fearing an attack from a spooked bull in the dark of night, I decided to pack it in. I got up to the house and looked out the window to see that the lights I had been waiting for just exploded. While being north enough to see events as little as KP 2/3, it's not quite north enough to use an exposure less than 30s and an ISO less than 1600, unless the display is KP6 or up. I think this night was predicted to be a KP3.
I stepped out onto their deck and shot a quick little panorama of the yard under the lights.

wow. I love it.

I'm jealous of people who get to see the northern lights. It's on my bucket list.

It's pretty cool yes, but the best views are in the far north. The camera can really belie the experience a bit because it is so sensitive compared to our eyes.
