Creek under the stars

This is likely the only star trials image you'll see me do. I don't much enjoy them especially if the north star is included and you get the whole pinwheel effect. Personal taste.
Took this on our first camping trip with our daughters. I set the camera up, took some foreground shots, then set it to an interval and went to help my wife get the girls to sleep (newborn and 3yrs). Went back after an hour or so and packed the camera up.

The stars are nice, but I'm not a fan of rendering flowing water a though it were ice.

very good! i'm also not a fan of circular star movement pictures, but here the ring effect isn't seen and the star lines add nice weirdness to the shot. water&stones are looking excellent

Very nice. It is an unusual combination of subjects in the composition.

Haha! thanks! the water is unavoidable being that it's so dark, long exposures were necessary for any detail.

I think the eeriest part of the photo was leaving my camera and tripod setup in the water, alone, while I went back to help with the kids. haha! I had visions of coming back with the tripod knocked over...
Thanks guys, this image was a labour of love and went through 4 iterations because it was very difficult to blend the background stars with the foreground trees. Someone had lit a campfire (at 1030pm, who does that!) just up the creek half way through the series, casting an orange glow on everything. the only way to deal with it was to mask the stars out and paste that on one of the other images. And then also bring in the creek from when there was still a little light. Challenging!

Wow both of the things people usually do with long exposures, better together. This is really nice.

Thanks for sharing
