There's a Storm Coming
Lens: Sigma APO 120-200 F4.5-5.6 DG HSM OS Camera: KP Photo Location: Searsmont, Maine ISO: 160 Shutter Speed: 1/125s Aperture: F9

From the Game preserve where I was looking for Raptors and Such, with no luck. Took some images of the South Montville Baptist Church with thunderstorm backgrounds.

I ended up having to run to the car as large drops started coming fast a few minutes after this was taken since the Sigma is not WR like the Pentax lenses I had in the car. Time was 1:19 EST (Local.)

This is a perfect situation for the white steeple - a dark background provides much better contrast than a bright background would.

Perhaps that worked its way into my brain subliminally, since I have taken a shot similar to this before, but didn't like them enough to try some PP on them. And yes, our power poles often do lean that far over! I makes it easier for the tree limbs to take them out in a blizzard or Nor' Easter! Job security for lineman and an excuse for CMP to raise rates when they do have to replace them from storm damage.

I love that combination - bright sunlight, but the sky showing a storm brewing.

It really dumped a lot of water in some places. I just decided that I needed to get to my auto service appointment when the big drops started splashing on me, right before the buckets overturned above me. The storm followed me and the window at the auto shop looked like an expensive water feature in a high end office building a minute after I sat down.

Looks like the end of the world. Good thing there’s a church nearby.
