Just a moon shot.
I wanted to get a moon shot and test my ability to focus while using my new Flat6A field flattener on my William Optics ZS71 ED telescope. I also wanted to test why folks use stacking when taking photographs of the moon. It didn't make sense to me as the moon is so bright that you don't need high ISO's to get an image, so I wasn't sure why the pros would all stack moon images. Then I learned that it wasn't to reduce noise, or gather more light, but to reduce atmospheric disturbances and produce a sharper image. It does work, the stacked version was visibly clearer than any of the single shots.
I also like to create composites that show the apparent size of the moon vs. the apparent size of some of the other deep sky objects I capture.
