Manic Monet Meltdown
Posted By: Igilligan, 09-18-2008, 02:35 PM

I know this is way to busy for most... but I like the watercolorish look.

I used my K100d with a S-M-C Tak 50 1.4 + 1.7 tele on the end, giving me a psuedo 85mm.

Look at your own risk!

Gus mate, I like it. Orange is my favourite colour anyway but it's still a nice image.
If I might make a suggestion, crop it on the right to make a square, I think it makes a better composition because it dead heads that flower at the bottom which is a bit of a distraction.

Something sharp against something blurry still work. Nice color, nice composition.
Was this straight from the card, I mean only the lens did this? No PS tricks?

Great Title Too!

I think it is beautiful. Until I saw this thread, I would not have believed Impressionism could be even intimated with a digital camera, never mind achieved. Thank you.

Who needs mind altering substances when you can just carry this shot in your wallet. All kidding a side, it is an interesting image. I keep thinking that I can make out secondary images in the unfocused regions (kind of draws a person in). Nice work.

Hey Gary... I tried a bunch of crop options as I did not really like that one dead head you mentioned, but I really wanted the set of leaves that runs under the dead flower. They are the only leaves that really are close to being in focus.
But I will play around some more with crops.

Thanks for the comment. I really only have a few even close to this crazy. One was done with HEAT WAVES and Long Zoom and the other was a wind inspired flower shot... But if I could shoot them everyday I would, as they look better to me than my attempts a real photographs.

Thanks for the comments Douglas... There are no photoshop tricks on the wierd OOF look. I played with saturation to bring out the colors as the original was a bit washed out. That also seem to give it a bit more depth. And it is cropped and resized.
