I used a Tamron SP 60-300, with two versions of this teleconverter attached (Tamron Adaptall 2x teleconverter 01F Lens Reviews - Miscellaneous Lenses - Pentax Lens Review Database) together. Not sure of the original focal length, but it was long when all together...and unwieldy. Nonetheless, I got this photo - minimal cropping, some haze reduction. I had to activate the 12-second timer to remove the shakes adequately.

Why did you keep the ISO set at 100 - the K-3 can do well at much higher values, and higher ISO would enable faster shutter speed which would have reduced issue with "the shakes".

See, now, I just avoid having whiskey at the same time as moon shots - that seems to help with the shakes.

But, in all seriousness, one website I saw recommended as low an ISO as possible - and it was a decent website, though the name escapes me now.

With that said, I shot this wide open (such as it can be on a doubled teleconverter shot). A better...set of settings...might be an iso in the 400 - 800 range, f/11 - f/16 (wherever the lens works best) and a higher shutter speed. Thanks for the rec - if it's clear tonight in the '30, I'll give it shot!
