I'm in the process of putting some of my personal favourites up here - this was earlier this year with my younger son posing for me in front of a lovely Devonshire sunset.

Thanks - it's great when the sunset catches fire just when you need it to

Wow, this is just a stunning picture. It really stands out. First the colors, and then the human element once one takes a better look at it.
I must ask how much PP went into it. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you! My son says the water was freezing, but otherwise a very nice moment. I don't recall doing a lot of PP - mostly just bumping up the contrast of the RAW file and adjusting the WB a bit - I tend to leave the camera on 'daylight' and it can go bit blue in the evenings. Myusual objective in PP is to try to be true to the feel of the scene as I experienced it,not always to the camera's interpretation of it, but that doesn't work if you stray too far from reality in pursuit of impact or whatever because that's not true to what you saw.

I had a feeling it wasn't too processed. And funny thing, I leave my WB set at daylight, too. Specially since there are so many white LED lights nowadays and that makes the orange sodium vapour lights look normal.
The blue sky glow is normal in the early evening and before sunrise. It's very colorful on longer exposures, although the eye can't really see it since it's so dim. But it's there and is no PP trick. I just can't recall the astronomical name right now.

I shoot almost exclusively outdoors, and so it makes sense to me - I like the different colours of artificial light in a low light shot and I certainly don't want to white balance them away

This is an absolutely beautiful photo - it would be "photo of the year" on my computer - if it were on my computer
