When I went out today to do some weeding I noticed an iridescent fly glistening in the sun, so I went back in to get my camera, which I set in TAv mode. The fly was gone, but this guy came by as I worked. He's a lot smaller than he looks in this photo, perhaps the size of a Kennedy 50-cent piece. I took seven or eight photos, and one turned out as I was hoping for.

Thank you for your comments.

I had seen orange-and-black butterflies from inside, but until today I had thought they were Monarchs.

Very nice. Haven't seen any around here this year but it looks like a Painted Lady.

Thank you .... I was sure it isn't a "Monarch", because its way too small, but otherwise I had no idea at all where to start looking for another ID.

Not a Painted Lady, but a Crescent. They're even smaller. I got a nice picture of one earlier this year.

Thank you for your contribution - I know that it is quite small.
