Sheryl the Crow
Lens: Tokina AT-X 100-300/4 Camera: K5ii Photo Location: Seattle, WA ISO: 1600 Shutter Speed: 1/125s Aperture: F8

This is Sheryl. She comes every day between 16:00 and 18:00 and I've been leaving treats for her for a few months now. She's still cautious with me, so I set the camera on a tripod today inside my backdoor and only the lens sticking out. Set the exposure and pre-focused and then waited. She saw me and you can see, in the sequence how careful she was, but these were some tasty treats and crows love tasty treats.

Notice that she is looking at me/the camera and not the food, just yet. I'm about 15-20 yards away.

Then she hops up to see what today's special is, while keeping an eye on me.

She always washes it first.

Lobster legs and cheese? Where can I rent a crow costume?

Very cool, my crows leave if they see me standing in the kitchen near the window. I have to stand well back in the room, at least 5 feet from the window to observe them.

The story-telling is almost worthy of Rupert - and the photos, especially the first, are very good also.

Thank you. I've needed a photo Project. Maybe it can be Sheryl. I have enjoyed her this summer.

Adopt her as Rupert adopted Otis. She isn't as cute, but the unlovely need love too.

Nice story sequence and images. The Sheryl Chronicles will probably continue if you keep providing treats. Crows are certainly wary. Thanks.
