as far as I know, not a lot of folks in the US think of " Burlesque " in the classic sense any more:

at one time, it was big business however that was years ago

I agree, it harkens from a golden age, so the youngsters who do it like the retro show business feel.

It's performance art only, there's no money in it anymore, because this is the age of visceral p@rn, not hint and tease.
