If you asked him to pose it's your responsibility to get a signed release. If you didn't your secret is safe with me. Seems I'm in a steadily shrinking group of people who appreciate a sharply detailed , up close image of one of our insect friends. I also like the "in your face" vibrant color of the flower. If I could like this more than once I would. Thumbs up Heinrich.

Lovely as always Heinrich! I keep shooting bees trying to get them as sharp as you do but I am nowhere near this level. Maybe in a few (or many,) years.

Thank you kindly, for me the whole reason to do macro work is to see the detail and maybe figure out how things work.

Thank you for the kind words, it's not that hard, I use flash (home made diffuser) to get the shortest exposures possible at the small f-stops needed.

Here is my understanding of Red-tailed Bumble Bees: There are workers (a-sexual), males and the queens. males do not collect pollen, the queens are way larger than the males, (as shown in one of my previous posts}

So these images show a male, hence there are no pollen collecting pods. Males are also identified by their beards. If anyone has more or better information, please let us know.

Thank you for the comment, It's a male with nothing to do but wait for a queen to mate with. You'll never find a worker bee to spend more than a couple of seconds on a flower.
