More HDR experiments.....
Posted By: dudlew, 02-25-2007, 10:37 AM

Hi all,

I have been playing around with HDr some more, and it is allowing me to get pictures I would not have been able to get with just one shot.... at least with my limited knowledge of photography.

But I have two shots that I really like here. I feel that they are quite natural looking, more of what the eye would see than what the resulting picture would be. I took these this morning on my way to work. They are both taken at the same place, on the golf course on my work site, just a different perspective. Taken with the kit lens, camera set to center weighted metering and using the auto bracketing function, set to +/- 2 EV aperature was set to f11.

I hope you like them, and as always I would love to here your comments.

Both very realistic. I like the second one. The Sun's position is like just right.

Did you do this with CS2?

Thanks for all the comments guys. I have to try and get some more. Work is quite hectice right now. There are some buildings that we are trying to complete and I am working seven days a week.

The last few I did I noticed that there was some shake, even with a tripod. This means that I am foing to have to go looking for a cable release or remote control.

I haven't been able to pull that off. I just manually bracket if I use the 2 sec. mode.

OP - nice shots! Just need one shot with the golfer taking a swing there now.

Its taking several shots at different exposure to capture the most dynamic range you can, then merging them together to create a HDR image (high dynamic range)

If you saw dudlew's original images, one would have a very blown sky and correctly exposed ground, and another one would have good detail in the sky, but too dark to see any details on the ground..

you can see exemples here:
Examples of tone mapped HDR images and dynamic range increase with Exposure Blending
